The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation’s signature event, The Ben to The Shore Bike Tour is a charity bike ride that raises money to support the mission of the FBBCF, which is to provide necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders.

Funds from the ride also support programs that strengthen relationships between police officers and children in the communities they serve. In particular, the money raised for The Ben to The Shore supports the FBBCF’s Police Youth Alliance Program, which is an in-school program that was founded in 2015 where uniformed officers meet with elementary and middle school students in disadvantaged neighborhoods and lead activities such chess, drum line, garden clubs, carpentry, art, bike safety and more.

 

In addition to supporting the core mission of the FBBCF, 46 local children’s charities also received grants in 2023. Recipients of the grants ranged from local scholarships to recreation centers to school libraries.
