Winter Wonderland in West Philly

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation and Pennsylvania State Representative Amen Brown partnered with the Philadelphia Police Department 18th District and Caring for Friends to present the first annual Community Winter Wonderland at 56th and Pine streets in West Philadelphia on Saturday, December 23, 2023. The winter-themed extravaganza featured marshmallow roasting for s’mores, gingerbread house making, toys for the neighborhood children, and holiday giveaways for the neighbors. Police Officers from the 18th District were on-hand to celebrate with the community they serve and welcome in the holidays with their neighbors.


The FBBCF’s sponsorship of the First Annual Winter Wonderland event is as an extension of their own Police Youth Alliance Program (PYA). PYA is a program that features activities such as gardening, chess, step dance, drumline, carpentry, art and reading in various schools throughout Philadelphia and the region. The programs are taught by uniformed Police Officers in an effort build better relationships with the neighborhoods they serve.

The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation is a Philadelphia-based non-profit dedicated to supporting the families of fallen and critically injured first responders and building healthy connections in the communities they serve.
