Joe Forte began his career in healthcare security and safety in 1979 as a Security Officer at a moderate-sized Catholic hospital in South Philadelphia. Through dedication, professionalism, and a deep passion for his field, Joe advanced to his current role as Director of Security at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a large urban facility and flagship of the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System. He is widely recognized as a dynamic and progressive leader in healthcare security.

In addition to his leadership role, Joe serves as an Adjunct Professor at West Chester University, teaching a course on Private Security, where he shares his expertise with the next generation of security professionals.

Joe holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from LaSalle University (1987), a Graduate Health Care Administration Certification from The Ohio State University (1996), and a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security and Public Safety from St. Joseph’s University (2008),the nation’s first dual degree program with an advanced specialty in Homeland Security. In the same year, he earned the designation of Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator from the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety.
