Immediacy Grant

The Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation Immediacy Grant is provided to the family of any first responder who is severely injured or killed in the line of duty in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey Area.

When a first responder is killed or critically injured in the line of duty, there is unexpectedly a great financial burden placed on their family. The FBBCF provides an immediate grant of $5,000 directly to the families of our fallen heroes to help during their time of need. We then follow up with continued support through organizations that exist to support these families, such as the Philadelphia FOP Survivors Fund, South Jersey FOP Lodge 56, Montgomery County Hero Fund and the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund . These grants are awarded solely at the discretion of the FBBCF board.

In 2020 we awarded immediacy grants to the families of Philadelphia SWAT Corporal James O'Connor and Marple Township Police Officer Brian Niedelman.
